sheetmoa is the spreadsheet part of moatool (moatool.app), a family of free browser tools. It is built and maintained by one independent developer, not a company. It converts between CSV, Excel, JSON and Markdown tables, and repairs CSV files that come out garbled.
Why your data is not uploaded
The tables people need to convert are usually sensitive: customer lists, payroll, sales figures, where every row is about a real person. Uploading a file like that to a stranger’s server just to change its format never made sense. So reading the file, detecting its encoding and writing the new one all happen entirely inside your browser, and the data is not sent anywhere. The "0 B uploaded" counter on each page and your browser’s network tab both let you check.
How it stays free
With no server processing data, fixed costs are tiny, so the tools stay free with no sign-up or quotas. Running costs are covered by ads, and a paid Pro option removes them for people who prefer that. Ads have nothing to do with how your data is handled.
What can be fixed, and what cannot
A CSV with broken accents, or with everything crammed into one column, was usually just read the wrong way, so the repair tool detects the real encoding and delimiter and puts it back. What cannot be fixed is stated just as plainly: if Excel already dropped the leading zero from a phone number or turned a long ID into 1.23E+15, the original digits are gone. The tool points those cells out, but it will not invent values. Guides are in the blog (in Korean).
